Admissions Information

Admission into the ITI Acting Programme is competitive, and places are limited to a maximum of 12 each year.

Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be above 18 years of age

• Have a GCE ‘A’ Level certificate or equivalent cultural literacy.
  Note: Graduates from junior colleges, polytechnics and universities, as well as current theatre practitioners are welcome to apply

• Demonstrate artistic talent and ability, maturity and commitment

• Be proficient in English. This means a GCE ‘O’ Level pass in English, or its equivalent, or a pass (score 50% or higher) in an English Proficiency Test, administered at the time of the audition

Artistic talent and ability, maturity and commitment, and cultural literacy (if relevant) will be assessed from your application and at an audition if you are shortlisted.

Selection Process and Auditions

After applications have been received, shortlisted applicants will be notified of an audition date, typically two weeks or more in advance.

Auditions are held in Singapore and selected cities out of Singapore through the year.

An audition is approximately 4 hours and includes the following components:

1. Movement
Candidates will be asked to present/demonstrate action/performance sequences and asked to act/respond to various spatial, physical and rhythmic stimuli.

2. Improvisation
Candidates are to show improvisational work in pair/group exercises with provided scenarios/scenes.

3. Monologues
Candidates will prepare 2 monologues, of 10 minutes each, in English and mother tongue/any second language.

4. Writing exercise
Free-form original, written submission to demonstrate cultural literacy, artistic ability and maturity.

5. Interview

In addition, an English Proficiency Test will be conducted if required.

Acceptance

Successful applicants will be notified with an offer for a place at ITI.

To accept, you are required to sign a Student Contract within 30 days or by the stipulated deadline.

ITI adopts the Committee for Private Education (CPE) standard student contract, a sample of which is available for view here.

The course will start only with a minimum intake of 10 students, although ITI may in exceptional circumstances decide to continue with a smaller intake size. If the classes do not start, students will be informed 30 days before the course commences and offered the option to join the next intake the following year.
