Residency at ITI: Open Sessions (Oct)

Residency 2 Open Sessions Web Thumb copy

ITI launched the first-ever Residency at ITI earlier this year, aimed at providing local theatre practitioners with time and space to engage in process-based practice.

For the second residency period from August to October 2024, artists-in-residence Chew Shaw En and Ang Kia Yee, as well as Regina Foo, Daisy Zhao Xiaoqing and Mel Peh, have been developing their respective performance projects: an exchange of ecologies and Lock-up: When Theatre Encounters Pro-wrestling. As part of the residency, the artists will host "Open Sessions", a series of programmes to engage with the local arts community and general public.

Residency at ITI: Open Sessions

an exchange of ecologies
— workshop and sharing
by Chew Shaw En & Ang Kia Yee
19 Oct, Sat | Workshop: 2 PM; Sharing: 4 PM

After a slow process of exchange, Chew Shaw En and Ang Kia Yee offer a glimpse into what they've discovered about their differing and intersecting cross-disciplinary practices that traverse dance, theatre, performance, and writing. Through a closed-door workshop and public sharing, the two artists demonstrate and discuss ways in which their creation processes intersect and diverge, particularly in how they devise and workshop with other bodies in space.

The closed-door workshop is a physical exploration of their residency themes of time and objects, while the sharing sets forth discoveries they've made about their own and each other’s practices and processes.

  • Workshop (2 PM–3:45 PM): by invite only
  • Sharing with Q&A (4 PM–5:30 PM): Register here

[UPDATED]
Lock-up: When Theatre Encounters Pro-wrestling

— Open Sharing & Dialogue
by Regina Foo, Daisy Zhao Xiaoqing & Mel Peh
27 Oct, Sun | 8 PM – 9:30 PM

"Hello~" ... "hiiiiii!" ...  "EH!"

Regina, Daisy and Mel were intrigued by how pro-wrestling plays with boundaries of truth and performance with its audience. What (Pro-wrestling x Theatre) conventions would be relevant to challenge the boundary play with its audience? How does our understanding of each discipline shape the performance making process?

The chapter of process-focused investigation will culminate here in our open sharing and dialogue. Bring your passion, bring your energy, join us!
