The Residency at ITI seeks to facilitate independent practice research and experimental performance-making within the local community. The programme offers space and time for artists to develop their practice through dialogue and experimentation, focusing on cultivating a process-based approach.
In keeping with ITI’s culture and philosophy, the Residency is an initiative to nurture technical competence, critical awareness, social engagement and artistic autonomy in theatre artists – demonstrating their capacity to contribute significantly to the theatre-making processes and cultures of their communities.
Selected Artists-In-Residence will have an opportunity to interact with the international student body at ITI, and our esteemed faculty and arts managers.
Towards the end of their residency, Artists-in-Residence will be asked to offer opportunities for observations by, conversations with, and/or participation from ITI students and the public. The format is open-ended, to be suggested by the artist/s. Past examples include a sharing session, work-in-progress presentation, and workshop. (View here and here.)
