Mindanao InterCultural Exchanges Returns with Stronger International Partnerships and Expanded Theater Program
The Mindanao InterCultural Exchanges (MICE) is set to return for its second edition this June at Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Dipolog, bringing with it a dynamic three-day program of contemporary theater workshops, intercultural dialogue, and professional development for emerging artists.
Organized by inITIate PH, a collective of Filipino graduates from the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) in Singapore, MICE aims to foster collaboration between regional theater practitioners and global experts. The initiative is rooted in the principles of interculturality and cultural exchange, promoting artistic innovation and inclusivity in the Philippine performance landscape.
This year’s MICE features two core components:
1. Mindanao + Visayas + Luzon Emerging Theater Approaches – workshops and lecture-demonstrations led by Singapore-trained Filipino theater artists, focusing on movement, voice, and devised theater practices.
2. ITI Workshop and Audition – an intensive acting workshop and audition session led by Koh Wan Ching, Head of Acting at ITI Singapore, offering a rare opportunity for local artists to pursue professional training abroad.
MICE 2025 is a strategic initiative aligned with JRMSU Dipolog’s External Affairs, Linkages and Resource Generation Office, reinforcing the university’s global arts collaborations and expanding access to international educational opportunities for students and faculty.
Originally launched in June 2023 and hosted by La Salle University in Ozamiz, MICE continues to build a bridge between regional creativity and global performance practice—empowering Mindanao and Visayas theatermakers to engage in broader artistic dialogues.
