In collaboration with EX-Theatre Asia, Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) will hold a series of actor training workshops in Taiwan led by Koh Wan Ching (Head of Acting) and Simon Stollery (Voice & Speech teacher and Certified Master Trainer of Estill Voice Training). These workshops integrate teaching approaches and experiences of both teachers, who will guide participants on an exploration of their vocal and physical sensibilities. Participants will discover creative expressivity as they find ways to generate dynamic feedback between voice, body and imagination. The workshops will be followed by sharing sessions about the pedagogy of the ITI Acting programme, and offer glimpses of training and creating in ITI’s unique intercultural environment.
Voice
This section aims to demystify and simplify the process of achieving an expressive and efficient speaking voice through a practical exploration of basic vocal function. Participants will explore how a little understanding can go a long way!

Intercultural Theatre Training and Practice — Sharing
This section will introduce the Intercultural Theatre Institute, characterised by its performer-centred, practice-oriented training that emphasises intercultural work and original creation. It immerses students in traditional theatre forms from Asia (such as Noh Theatre from Japan, Beijing Opera from China, Wayang Wong from Indonesia and Kutiyattam from India), and juxtaposes these intense interactions with both Stanislavskian and post-Stanislavskian actor training techniques. The process of skills acquisition and recombination takes place in a plural, intercultural environment marked by a variety of languages, a multiplicity of cultures and a broad, inclusive theatrical palette.
