Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI) invites you to an evening dedicated to the art of Jingju and a dialogue of cultures. This event will feature a demonstration of techniques and selected excerpts from Jingju works presented by ITI students, offering an exploration of this traditional theatre form.
Highlighting the evening is an introduction by and Q&A with Mdm Li Qiu Ping, the distinguished Stephen Riady Master Chair in Jingju, who returns to teach this art form at ITI for the first time in six years.
Jingju is celebrated for its intricate combination of singing, dialogue, acting, and acrobatics. Recognised on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Jingju is one of the four Asian traditional forms that students at ITI study through nine-week intensive immersions as part of the intercultural training programme.
