Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute publicity campaigns for branding, student recruitment and events
  • Manage ITI’s database, internal comms and upkeep content for ITI's own digital resources
  • Manage ITI’s website and social media
  • Produce reports for key stakeholders
  • Assist with the planning and managing of events
  • Assist in building partnerships and donor relationships

Requirements:

  • An understanding of the fundamentals of marketing and communications, and preferably of arts management as well
  • Formal education in one or more of the fields mentioned above
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Competency in use of software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
  • A positive, can-do spirit and desire to learn 
  • 2 years' work experience preferred but fresh graduates will be considered
  • Photography and videography skills are an added advantage

Research Assistant (Closed)

About the role

Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI), Singapore, is hiring a researcher (full-time or part-time) to assist on an upcoming research project “Actor Training & the Intercultural” which will run from February/March 2021 to December 2023.

In this role, you will provide support in the conduct of research to study, understand and analyse the ITI actor training process and pedagogy, and the significance of the intercultural context in which it happens.

The research will be done through collaborations with scholars and theatre artists over a 38-month period, and will involve the following:

  1. Detailed documentation of the 3-year actor training programme from first to third year
  2. Consolidating and presenting research at the Asian Intercultural Conference, focusing on the impact of the ITI process on artists’ current practice
  3. Interviews with ITI graduates on the impact of the ITI process on their current practice
  4. Analysis of “interculturality” in the ITI process through a study of the following:
      • Theatre and aspects of interculturalism in Singapore
      • The actor’s self and cultural Identity
      • The place of tradition in contemporary theatre practice
      • Translation and intercultural theatre pedagogy
      • Ethics, cultural rights and contextualisation of sources

    Kwok Kian Woon (Associate Provost, Nanyang Technological University)
    Nazry Bahrawi (Senior Lecturer, Singapore University of Technology and Design)

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Principal Researcher, who will be steering the research
  • Collection and collation of quantitative and qualitative data
  • Conducting literature searches
  • Identifying gaps in information and scholarship
  • Providing summaries and assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations
  • Directing and transcribing interviews
  • Writing analyses of actor training processes at ITI

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate/Masters degree in theatre, arts or humanities
  • Demonstrable interest in performing arts and culture
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with audio/video editing software is an added advantage
  • Access to available funding from a university, think tank or research institute will be an advantage

This is a contract position and the fee will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
