Web Thumb ITI celebrates 25 years

ITI celebrates 25 years as the world's premier intercultural theatre conservatory – training artists, educators and leaders from around the globe, and championing the value of intercultural practice.

We stand on the shoulders of giants, past and present.

We are deeply grateful to everyone in Singapore and all over the world who has shared this journey with us.

"The very meaning of art is [that] through the process of art, you get deeper into an understanding of life and people."
— Kuo Pao Kun
on the launch of TTRP, 29 February 2000

In 2000, Kuo Pao Kun and T. Sasitharan co-founded the Theatre Training and Research Programme (TTRP), a ground-breaking approach to theatre training that integrates traditional and contemporary performance traditions within a diverse, intercultural environment.

Now known as the Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI), the programme has grown and evolved, with over 100 graduates working in 40 countries today.
