Two Kerala-based alumni received awards recognising their contributions to theatre: Sreejith Ramanan (’08) received the Kanal-Vayala Award and Sankar Venkateswaran ('06) received the Shankar Nag Theatre Award.
The Kanal-Vayala Award is presented by Kanal Samskarika Vedhi to young contributors to the field of theatre, in memory of the late dramatist Vayala Vasudevan Pillai.
The Shankar Nag Theatre Award is awarded by Ranga Shankara to a theatre all-rounder below the age of 40 who embodies the spirit of service to the larger vision of theatre in India.
