This week at An Evening of Noh, ITI welcomed guests from the local and international arts community, government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and media. In honour of ITI’s 25th Anniversary, audiences enjoyed a rare demonstration by Kanze Yoshimasa, a Shité master recognised by the Japanese government as a holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property of Nohgaku. Kanze Yoshimasa is the Chairman of Kanze Kyukohkai (School of Noh) and has been teaching at ITI since 2000.
Yoshimasa was accompanied onstage by acclaimed Noh performers Kuwata Takashi and Nakamori Kennosuke.
Students presented shimai and excerpts from Chikubushima and Kantan, showcasing their immersive training in the centuries-old Japanese tradition.
ITI extends our deep gratitude to the Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry Singapore Foundation for supporting the 2025 Noh term.
