This July to August, enhance your skills with masterclasses on theatre and clowning, led by ITI faculty member, actor and director Guillermo Angelelli! 

Masterclass on the Creative Process from Training to Composition 

For professional artists and those training in theatre, circus, dance, singing and performers in general.

Structure

The Scribble
Physical training on three movement circuits, application of basic principles of theatrical anthropology for the discovery and development of the implicit actions in the doodling, as well as composition of sequences.

The Five Resonators
Basic tips for the development of vocal training based on five body resonators and the action of saying.

The Marriage Between Word and Action
Organisation of a structure through listening and adaptation of various systems of meaning (including a score of actions and text).

Creation and Exhibition
How to be present.

Requirements: 

• Minimum age of 17
• Attendance for all sessions
• Comfortable clothing
• A memorised text of the participant’s choice with a length of 10–15 lines (preferably not song lyrics)

Clowning Masterclass 

This intensive two-day workshop will train performers on awareness, presence and complicity.

Beyond a character, the clown can be defined as a kind of spirit; a quality of energy that arises from the joy of celebrating the uniqueness of each moment with others.

This masterclass offers a repertoire of games and exercises played in complicity with the audience, to test and train your ability to communicate using the most sensitive, true, passionate, stripped, ridiculous and funny parts of your personality.

About the Instructor

Guillermo Angelelli is a faculty member of Intercultural Theatre Institute. An actor, director and teacher from Argentina, he studied drama at the National School of Dramatic Arts in Buenos Aires and continued his training with teachers such as Carlos Gandolfo and Cristina Moreira. In 1984, he co-founded the clown group El Clú del Claun, one of the most celebrated groups in Buenos Aires known for their avant-garde works. In 1986, he began to develop training and research work with Iben Nagel Rassmusen of Denmark’s Odin Teatret, and is now a member of the Vindenes Bro Group (The Bridge of Winds) managed by Rassmusen. For over 35 years, he has been teaching clowning, physical and vocal training in Argentina and other parts of Latin America, as well as Europe. He has also served as the director of the theatre group El Primogénito since 1993.

Guillermo has won many awards for his work in theatre including the Harlequin Award for Best Actor and Director for Asterion (1992), GATEA Award and Maria Guerrero Award for Best Actor for The Threepenny Opera (2004) and Hamlet (2004), and Maria Guerrero Award for Best Actor for Woyzeck (2006).

Refund Policy

If a registered participant chooses to withdraw from the workshop, the following will apply:

• Regardless of when notice is received, the participant has the option to find another person to take their place in the workshop; no refund will be made.
• If this is not feasible, then the participant is entitled to a 50% refund, provided notice is received more than 14 days from the starting date of the workshop.
• If notice is received 14 days or less from the starting date of the workshop, no refund will be made.

Minimum Registration

We require a minimum of 5 participants for “Masterclass on the Creative Process from Training to Composition” and 10 participants for “Clowning Masterclass” to proceed. We reserve the right to cancel either workshops if we do not get the minimum registration needed. In the rare event that we need to cancel, you will receive a full refund of the fees paid.

Additional Attendees and Observations

Additional attendees (e.g. friends, spouses, parents) and observers can only attend as registered participants of this workshop, and are required to pay the full fee.

Health and Physical Consideration

Our workshops can be moderately physically demanding. If you currently have, or have had in the past, any impairing physical conditions or are taking required medications that might affect your ability to participate in any particular workshop, please consult us before you register. Other than any condition brought to our notice in writing, you warrant that you are sufficiently fit and healthy to undergo the training and activities in this workshop, and will indemnify us in relation to any expense, loss or damage caused by breach of warranty.
