“[ITI] can positively affect not only the performing arts of Singapore but of the whole region and beyond… What is needed is what [ITI] can provide: an actor training curriculum that synthesises traditional and modern…systems”
~ Richard Schechner
Professor of Performance Studies, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU, & Editor, The Drama Review
Intercultural Theatre Institute (ITI), an independent theatre school, offers a Professional Diploma in Intercultural Theatre (Acting), and started classes in January 2012 with an intake of 10 students.
ITI is based on Kuo Pao Kun’s vision of intercultural actor training using a matrix of traditional theatre systems and conceptions of theatre making from different cultures, with a view to producing critically and socially engaged artists who make original, contemporary theatre.
ITI proudly presents Q: Protagonists At The Edge, where veteran director Ang Gey Pin examines, together with the 2015 graduating cohort, renowned Singapore works and the responses they engender today.
